This style of knitting heralds from the Aran islands off the west coast of Ireland. Traditionally they were hand knit in unscoured wool which made them great fishing jumpers because the natural oils (lanolin) of the sheep wool kept them usable even when wet.

These days we use scoured (washed) and dyed Australian Merino Wool with easy care treatment so you can safely machine wash and cool tumble dry your Aran knit jumpers.

The Avery Aran Pure Wool Jumper is a thick warm winter weight with high quality finishings like the hand linked crew neckband.
